Faux Yellow Brick Road.
So I am laying in bed for the next couple of days because I am having some sort of back spasms. LAME. The good news is i have pain killers and T.V.to keep me company. So as I was surfthechannel.com ing I came across the Tin Man Sci-fi channel show. Maybe it's my drowsy state of mind but I kinda like it. It's a definite spin of my favorite story of all time, but totally re-invented. Instead of calling it OZ, they refer to it as the "Outer Zone" , or the "O.Z." which I really enjoy because of my obsession with the show "The O.C.". So it's what you expect, the Dorothy character ends up in a tornado which swoops her off to a crazy place, all of the essential characters are there, but instead of a Scarecrow we have an ex-con who's brain was removed because he knew to much also referred to as a "head case". And the tin man is an ex-cop obviously heartless, and the cowardly lion a psychic wild beast kind of portrayed as someone you would find in a mental institution. Entertaining? Yes. Am I on pain killers? Yes. Whether or not the show is as bad ass as I want it to be, I am really glad that people still love the stories of Dorothy Gail and her adventures in OZ. I believe there were like 7 or 8 books in the Oz series about Dorothy and a lot of the material Frank Baum used was letters that kids had written him telling him what kind of adventures they wanted to see Dorothy go on. So in a sense this is like a tribute to that. Lets check more version of the wonderful world of Oz.
The origional. With beautiful illustrations by John R. Niell.
Yessssss, Judy as Dorothy. Perfect. Then Judy Garlands daughter did the voice of Dorothy in the vintage cartoon "Returns to Oz"
And my favorite Oz on the screen.
Black disco Oz.

Until the Light Takes Us.
My husband is super into heavy metal so when he saw that this documentary was showing in our neighborhood he pre-ordered a bunch of tickets. Good thing cause it was totally sold out. This documentary is all about "Black Metal" specifically and if you are a fan or know anything about it definitely check it out. It's playing again here on Saturday night at the Film Forum. Pretty interesting. I already knew a little about the origins of Black Metal ( I don't always tune out all the banter between my husband and the dudes he talks to) and very exciting was the day the mix tape Fenriz of "Dark Throne" arrived in our mailbox. (You can down load the mix tape for free on the Actual Pain website, it's really cool.) So I knew the basics of the corps paint, the church burning, the murders. And those topics were very well covered. Some things that were said were pretty shocking, some kinda stupid, but Fenriz is awesome and is in most of the movie so that was cool.
Growing up in Seattle there wasn't really a metal scene like there is now. Soundgarden was probably the heaviest band I saw that was local. Then bands like Botch and Teen Cthulu and Akimbo. Now it seems like most of the shows I end up at are heavy metal inspired, with the creepy guitar shreds, the long hair banging back and forth, the gremlin vocals, a sea of beards in the audience. Not so much my thing, although Wolves in the Throne Room I do really like and of coarse Book of Black Earth and BLACK BREATH. Although as much as I love me some Black Breath I should really be listening to Bathory (sp?) because I every time I hear them I think it's Black Breath and it's not.
I am really glad they made this film. I now know that the little bit there is to know about the origins of Black Metal is totally worth knowing. Mostly because Fenriz really seems like a genuine honest person and because the whole "Satanic devil worship" thing was totally created by the media not Burzum or Varg or whatever, and if you murder someone in Oslo Norway your maximum sentance is 21 years. Yeah. And if you ever see a band today that claims to be Black Metal be sure they are total posers. Well that might not be totally true, I don't really know. But it seems that way.

Fake it til' ya make it.
I've been dealing with really passive aggressive people lately. LAME! So I've been sitting here trying to update the damn blog but all I am really thinking about is these bad vibes I have been in lately. But writing about passive aggressive people is kinda passive aggressive. Fuck thats so annoying. I guess all I can really say to the blog is that People and their opinions of me is not scary. I think it's really shitty when people shut down and leave you to figure out why they are upset. It is a selfish, shallow super fucking lame thing to do. If you just way what's on your mind, no matter what it is, even if it's kinda mean like " You're annoying" at least you are respecting your own opinion, and not leaving the other person to figure out what it is that is so terrible about them, which is really scary and not cool. Nothing is more scary then our own opinions of ourselves (except maybe the earth flying out of orbit or all the volcanoes in the world erupting at once or Sonic Youth retiring). So anyway, grow the fuck up West Coast. I can respect your opinion and I sure as hell am not afraid of it. The next time you pull some passive aggressive bad vibes bleeding all over my space making me look for reasons why I am shitty because you wont say ANYTHING be sure you will be called out on it. I'm to old for this shit.

Seattle is finally warming up! High 70's today, pretty awesome! And even though I finally got a chance to rock my spring/summer 2009 Marc by Marc Jacobs dress properly for the first time today, I can't wait for his fall/winter line to hit the stores. Until then, get rad with this documentary that opens with him in a bird costume. Could I love him anymore??

Lovely.
I love it when life dishes out the sweet surprises. I have been working a lot, like too much, which I know I shouldn't complain about, (except that it sucks anyway) so I haven't been on the up and up in what is happening around town. So last night when I got off work I was psyched to find out that the Vaselines were playing up the street and I could still catch the last half of the set. SO GOOD. It was like they jumped out of their record and onto the stage, the songs were perfect, and just as I remembered them all. I missed the performance of "Kiss Molly's Lips" but I did see "Jesus wants me for a sunbeam" , "No hope", and "Lets get ugly". Very cool, very Scottish, I didn't really understand the banter between songs. They use different slang.
Then my husband got snubbed by this guy.
Super funny! He was walking past us and I didn't notice him until my husband was like "YOU'RE THE GUY! THE GUY FROM THE SHOW!" And then Jermaine or whatever his name is ran off. Super funny.

FLOYD.
Yeah we're just hangin' in Pompeii with like a hundred half stack amps without our shirts on being incredible. Pink Floyd. Dude. Amazing god like musicians, or Calvin Klein models? Trip out to the awesomeness now.
Working 9 to 5... sort of.
Being a professional time traveler would be awesome. So many mysteries would be solved. First stop off the time machine, go to Pompeii and check out the filming of the Pink Floyd video, then it would be off to the lost city of Atlantis (who really built those crazy pyramids?) and then a quick stop in the dark ages to hand out bars of soap, and quickly get back in the time machine home before they burn me at the stake for crazy witch craft.
Spoiled.
I have been wanting to buy an Epiphone Thunderbird bass guitar for a while now, and today my hubby got me one as a surprise. It is awesome and i just got done shredding on it for hours. Thanks babe, I love you!
And here is a picture of Kim Gordon playing one just like mine, so now you understand why I wanted one. So hot.

"I've got style, for miles and miles"
Lately I have been lucky enough to totally shred on my guitar and thrash on my drums. Having a secret club house to go to and rock out is awesome and I will never deny myself that kind of sacred space in my life again. It has been a couple years since I have unleashed my inner thrashaholic and probably around eight since I have really listened to Pavement like I did growing up. Pavement was always a close second in my top ten favorite bands when I was in junior high and highschool, and even though I have always had an unconditional love for them, their records were not as frequently played in my life. Recently I was in my friends car and she was totally rocking out to "Brighten the Corners", which came out pretty late in Pavements game, and I thought to myself "Dude this record is so good!" And I remembered that I was like super obsessed with "Wowee Zowee" I would always listen to it on my walkman on the bus and when when the last song on side A would come on I would like, astrally travel to another dimension, and rewind it over and over again. Pavement is so good. So good. Please listen to one of their records today. And watch this video cause it's awesome. And then go and thrash.

Solid Gold.
Everyone has been talking about the Met Gala last week and last night I got talking about Kate Moss and her hotness with a girlfriend of mine. She informed me of an amazing piece of art in the U.K., and this morning she sent me an email with this attached. ENJOY.

What's my boyfriend doing?
When my May issue of Vogue came in the mail this month I was really psyched by the cover article "The Real Lives of Models". I am fascinated by all the changes that have gone on in the modeling industry because now a days it seems that the big Hollywood actresses are appearing in much of the advertising. Hollywood sells fashion now, not models. Whether it be Jennifer Aniston in a Smart Water add or Scarlett Johansson posing for Dolce &Gabbana. Models don't even pose at the end of the runway anymore. Why? So as I read the article and came to find out about the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute exploring the role of models as muses, I was really interested. When I think of models as muses I think of Twiggy. I think of Naomi, Iman, Gia. Kate Moss. Dude Kate Moss! So anyway, I was psyched to check out the news today of last nights benefit for the exhibition and ..... Whoa. What? Huh? Wait. Ummmmmm.
Anna Wintour had said the theme of this party was super heroes. Great idea! So what the fuck happened here?
This is an exhibition made possible by Marc Jacobs. This is Madonna wearing a Louis Vuitton dress probably designed by Marc Jacobs. My heart is BREAKING. It's aweful.....maybe if she took that thing off her head ditched the hooker boots and wore some flats.
Watching the slide show of the red carpet was like getting slapped in the face over and over and over again. Really?
And here is my boyfriend Marc Jacobs looking cute as ever with a scary looking Kate Moss. Although she is definitely bangin' in that dress, girl looks tired.
Rarely, if ever, am I disappointed by anything involving Marc Jacobs. So I hope the exhibition is more inspiring than the party was.

Double R Diner.
It was good enough for Special Agent Dale Cooper and it was definitely good enough for me. Tweeds Diner served me up a killer piece of cherry pie and a damn fine cup of coffee. A major bonus of living in the north west.

Susan Miller.
This woman is one of my very favorite astrologers and your May 2009 horoscopes are posted! Click here to see into your future.
Wunderkind.
German designer Wolfgang Joop is kicking ass with this fall/winter 2009 collection. I loved everything about it. Very gothic fairy tale, sort of the wicked witch disguised as the princess. Runway video put me in a trance. Check it out.

It's hot. I am thirsty.
Young coconut juice is super good! Not to mention it is super good for you. It's isotonic and has tons of potassium and minerals in it. Delicious, refreshing, cute. Coconut!
Mermaids.
In history mermaids have been said to be unlucky omens. Singing their enchanting mermaid songs luring men to fall off their boats and then sucking the life out of them. Any unlucky sailor who saw one would surly be doomed and his ship would definitely sink. But I don't know about that. I think being a mermaid would be awesome. Getting rad in your underwater kingdom and being friends with people like Peter Pan and Tom Hanks. I would make really fancy bras and tiaras out of pearls and shiny stones and brush my long beautiful hair all day.
Fuck the world don't ask me for shit.
Everything you got you gots to work hard for it.
I really liked this movie. I know it's totally cheesy and of all the beautiful men in this world that could have played Tupac the guy they chose just really didn't do it for me, but all in all this was a great way to spend a stoned out monday night.
Saddleshoes.
This is a blog written by one of the most wild people I know. It will sooth and inspire you.
Fuck Yeah Black Breath.
Black Breath!!!!!!!! This local seattle band kicks so much ass it's unreal. In my opinion Black Breath has totally brought back the Seattle angst in a radical way. Inspired by hardcore, thrash, black metal and who knows what else, these dudes have taken it to a level that I didn't even know I needed. I believe they are playing at Chop Suey on May 19th. They have a myspace page with some of their songs and tour dates. Fuck Yeah.
I love vampires.
Little kids covered in blood! This movie was so good. Why are vampires so fucking awesome?!? "Let the Right One In" is a swedish movie about an adorable little kid who crushes on a little vampire girl. The plot is a little more extensive than that but its really not what makes this movie awesome. visually this is a really fun movie to watch, it is haunting, dark, and and totally sweet. So rad.
