"I've got style, for miles and miles"

Lately I have been lucky enough to totally shred on my guitar and thrash on my drums. Having a secret club house to go to and rock out is awesome and I will never deny myself that kind of sacred space in my life again. It has been a couple years since I have unleashed my inner thrashaholic and probably around eight since I have really listened to Pavement like I did growing up. Pavement was always a close second in my top ten favorite bands when I was in junior high and highschool, and even though I have always had an unconditional love for them, their records were not as frequently played in my life. Recently I was in my friends car and she was totally rocking out to "Brighten the Corners", which came out pretty late in Pavements game, and I thought to myself "Dude this record is so good!" And I remembered that I was like super obsessed with "Wowee Zowee" I would always listen to it on my walkman on the bus and when when the last song on side A would come on I would like, astrally travel to another dimension, and rewind it over and over again. Pavement is so good. So good. Please listen to one of their records today. And watch this video cause it's awesome. And then go and thrash.

  1. So "my friend's car" has a name, and it's Sabine. Sabine is furious that you didn't call her by her name. But she's thrilled that her rocking out to the Brighten the Corners reissue reinvigorated your Pavement love. And possibly inspired some of the jangle jamtastic DIVERS DOWN! tunes I heard last night at LoFi.

  2. One of the best bands ever. I saw them play six or eight times, including a coupla time with the unpredictable Gary Young on drums. Those early shows were chaotic, ramshackle brilliance. Slanted and Enchanted is still, to this day, one of my favorite records of all time.
